Morbid Curiosity...

I never met my father and first photo I ever saw of him was his mugshot a few months ago. He is to serve 25 years in prison. Undoubtedly he is an incredibly evil psychopath, but every now and then I go on a news website to look at his mugshot.

He is hated by my entire family with good reason, but I just want to know stuff about him other than the vile evil shit. I don't think I should get in contact but the temptation is there. Maybe I'm evil for wanting anything to do with this person?

You're not evil, that's normal. I dated a girl whose biological father was a registered sex offender and referred to him as her "sperm donor" and was curious about him too and read about him too. She remembered in vivid detail the night he did it to her so she understood why he was where he was. He's your father, why not get to know the guy, while he's locked up? You may learn from him, at least what not to do, or you may like the guy. If you decide not to correspond, I think that you would regret it when you get older. No matter how evil he is, he's still your father.
