whatever happened to being different?

call me old but it seems like internet culture especially cringe culture has made it very hard for people to be different weird or just different ways of thinking we are so hammered with corporations that tells us to be different but shames us when we do try to be different it's almost like nothing is subversive anymore nothing is counterculture anymore

You think you got bad. I lived though all of this and try being here when the internet was only 50–2400 bits per second (bps) on early links (dial-up and leased lines). That was in the late 1960s early 1970s.

Then in the 1980s the telephone modems came about. Talk about high speed at thd rate of 300 bps (early) → 1200 bps (mid-80s) → 2400–9600 bps (late 80s).

But nothing beats the old school chatrooms. Did you, that they been around since the early 1970s and still can be found on-line today. Y99 or YesChat in the popular one now.

I am be older now, but I remember when the internet was a free for all wild ride and I like it that way. Complete anonymous, there was no such thing as IP tracking or tracing.

It was truly was the wild west of the internet

Are you saying its getting deep in the manure pit

@HumanEarth am just saying it seems like it's not cool anymore to be original and to me that's sad

@DANDYGROOVY Make it cool, by doing your own thing. I never lived by the rules. I have goats that steal dresses and go to church to eat the flowers. But I keep coming back for more.

Make the best of it
