Why do people get so fixated on things here?
Fixation on trivia might be seen as a personality flaw by some who then question whether someone can make a good friend. There are varying fixations I know, like a band or a style of music, maybe even a style of clothing, but there are things so exclusive that obsessions can seem more than strange, or weird, and it can be very off putting to people.
Of course, to some having a religious identity can be off putting as a fixation, but at least they will identify themselves as opponents of your view and you can discard them from your society because they may take an abusive stance in how they express opposition.
While opposites do attract, there are degrees of acceptance of their position and finding no other common ground is a natural turn off and makes your decision so much easier to make and stay with. It really is as simple as that!
