🤨 Were you raised by, or have you lived with someone with a strong personality?

Did that have an effect on your personality?

Ugh!!! Yes..... both parents with very strong personality.....

My ex husband, a famous artist who broke and carved rocks into soft sculptures with his strong body and mind....

This photo was taken before his funeral from the House of Artists 2 weeks ago....

@Soossie how fabulous!👍
@Stefanv

Thank you.... 🙏
Not just one. My Mum is Northern Irish and my Da is Icelandic Viking type. They are both immigrants to the US as teens. Two very, very strong personalities. And both my brothers too. I know people think I’m kinda mouthy and loud but I’m the most subdued one in my family. lol

My adoptive father was a retired Marine Colonel. He did 2 years as a drill Sargent while his wounds healed . To say he was a strong personality would be an understatement. He trained me like a “boot” , but never raised his voice or his hand to me. I was daddy’s girl . Mom was a retired college professor. I was partially illiterate at 11 when they adopted me . She and her colleagues taught me how to learn, how to study, and how to test . School happened everyday, all year, until I was accepted into college riding a foundation of knowledge that I still use today . She was a bit more of a fireball. Neither of them accepted anything but my best , and gave me everything. They were the best examples I could have grown up with .

Yes. My mother. And pretty much every woman on the maternal side of my family. All of them somehow mange to be simultaneously strong and gentle.

This November it will be thirteen years since I lost my Mother and not a day has gone by when I haven't felt as if my heart was wrenched out of my body.
I would be a totally different person had I had different parents.

Ugh.. my father and a couple friends over the years. I respect those friends, but I can only be around them in small doses. My father however gets belligerent about it. The thing I noticed about, at least the people I know, is that their strong personalities seem to get in the way of them experiencing joy. they complain a lot and are rarely in a good mood for longer than fleeting moments.
@WhateverWorks She’s very charismatic. I totally understand why my Da fell head over heels for her. lol
WhateverWorks · 36-40
Charismatic people fascinate me. Of course, because of some traumatic stuff that’s happened, I’m also very leery of them 😅 i’m sure good natured, charismatic people exist somewhere. I just haven’t met one. @JustGoneNow
@WhateverWorks you’d love my Mum. I used to be a lot like that too back when I was in my bands and stuff but after adult onset of some pretty severe mental illness, my anxiety gets in the way now.

Both parents

My father was a very strong personality, it taught me negotiating skills
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
If the term "strong" could also mean "abusive" yeah, let's say strong.
Well my father was an NCO in the RCAF. Funny story time. When I was a kid the principal at my school actually requested my father not show up in uniform because they were intimidated by him.

That can go either way. 🤔 You call for backup because your mother is so crazy you need it, or you call for backup because you can’t handle arresting your own mother.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Yes.

I decided I did not want to grow up to be like him. I am more quiet like my mom, so I naturally did not become my dad.
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
I learned not to talk
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Dad was a character and mom was the boss... I feel thier loss every day
BarbossasHusband · 36-40, M

Yes i did live with my mother for some time as a kid.
She is a very strong willed person, but not in a bad way. Definitely learned from her, what it is like to be determined not to let life get me down.
@SW-User
Mothers would do anything for their children. They sometimes surprise themselves what they’re capable of. :)
Slade · 56-60, M
I'm more a strong personality than either of my parents, or my siblings. I'm easygoing most of the time but a totally ruthless bastard when I need to be
WandererTony · 56-60, M
I am surrounded by strong personalities. Both parents were strong personalities too at their time
Though i look tough, i think i an the softest of the lot!
😀
Viper · M
Oh hell yeah, strong and extremely stubborn personalities and it has changed me and made me great at working with normal people lol
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I don't think so, they both struggle with insecurities but my father accomplished a lot in spite of that.
subhubby · 56-60, M
My Goddess wife has a very strong personality. It has definitely had an impact on my personality.
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
I would never be asked that question because even if I could I would never work as a pig .
I have characteristics from both parents personality wise
Hmmm...semi. (My father.)

It helped bring out my comedic skills.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
My husband would say yes and yes. 😄
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
Most definitely. On both counts.
Gawd, yes. My mother. She and my youngest sister are the only two extroverts in our family. My father has a strong personality, too, but it’s a quiet strength. But both could stop us in our tracks with a look. Mom’s, controlled fury, Pop’s, disappointment.
Im the quiet one.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Yes. It served me well. I am thankful.🙂
