I Am a Satanist

I find it interesting that everyone who has written in this group writes as if Satanism means worshiping Satan. That is quite ignorant. Most Satanists are actually atheist. They call themselves Satanists because they consider themselves the opposition to organized religion.

Those who are writing here about actually worshiping Satan, must have a different Satanic Bible than me. Anton Lavey just pretty much outlined a way of living, which contradicts biblical teaching.

Here are the seven tenets one is expected to adhere to within the Satanic Temple. You can find them on The Satanic Temple's website. (https://thesatanictemple.com/)

1. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

2. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

3. One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

4.The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

5. Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

6. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

7. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

My boyfriend and I attempted to join our local Satanic church and were denied because we were not atheist enough. It is all good though. We still hang out with our friends who are part of the Satanic Church and support their causes. They throw some awesome parties. :-D

Personally, I feel that I match all of their tenets, but apparently my perception of tenet number five is different than what they intended. They mean it as an atheistic quality, but I see the basis of my hermetic spiritual foundation as having scientific truth.

More accurately, I am a hermetic Pagan on the left-hand path, which means I dabble in what others consider the darker arts. Although, I don't consider my ways dark. Perceptions of dark and light are an indoctrinated concept, which I reject.

Gosh.. I remember that being a controversial misunderstanding when I was a teenager. That and the mentality that everything not Christianity was Satanism/golden calf at best. I didn’t realize it was still a source of confusion for so many. 🤷🏻‍♀️
