Can the satanic temple really be considered authentic satanists? I BARELY consider the church of satan as such.

Both just use satan as a symbol. In my opinion, you don't have to be a theistic satanist to be authentic, but you AT LEAST have to believe in black magick. Even if all you think satan is is just an archetype, you at least have to do some ritual, or something satanic.

The satanic temple are just progressives, at the end of the day. And this isn't a slam against progressives, because the politics of the church of satan are also pretty lame; they essentially ayn rands objectivists, mixed with philisophical hedonism. At least they do magick tho.

To me, the authentic satanists are the temple of Set. Their claims are that there was a historical exodus from egypt, and that the hebrews as well as other groups, took the diety Set (god of darkness) and incorporated it into their theology. Basically, Set is the true inspiration for satan. I don't really know if this is true; and I doubt anyone really does... it's just a theory. But it is authentic.

I think those things means differently to different people so it's kinda hard telling cos it's archaic to begin with and views vary drastically. I'm not entirely sure you can even put any label on anything in that religion.
@SatanBurger It is archaic but I don't really personally take that word to be a bad thing. In many way primitive man was more enlightened than moder man. The technological world has fried our dopamine receptors to hell and zapped our motivation. I do believe ithere could be some dark force called Satan, and I mean LITERALLY, not figuratively or metaphorically.

According to one interpretation of Satan, he's not evil NOR is he a "good" cosmic rebel against jehova, but literally an agent of God. The basic interpretation is that he tempts people to see if they will be loyal to God, much how a goon for a mob boss will be like "so, whad'ya really think of a pachini family huh?". In the book of Job, Satan appears in heaven, and tempts Job to see if he's loyal.
Tho is one if a christian, you can't really have this interpretation. Satan is clearly a villian in the new testament, being rebuked by Jesus and also cast into fires in revelation. But it is interesting.
