It’s Faerie Friday! And it’s none other than King Oberon today!

Oberon is a legendary king of the fairies, most famously known from William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream, where he is the consort of Queen Titania. Originating in medieval French literature, he is depicted as a powerful, often mischievous, and sometimes arrogant ruler of the fairy realm, who commands nature and magic. His character has appeared in various works, including the 13th-century French poem Huon of Bordeaux and later in operas and other literary works.

@FreeSpirit1 He has a museum in Las Vegas, my mother insisted on going there when her and my oldest brother visited me for my birthday in 2006, it included a representation of his bedroom, it was scary.

You are providing incentive for research. I recall looking up one of your previous faeries that you intrigued me with!

@Pfuzylogic Most of what people know about him are from a Midsummer Nights Dream. But apparently his roots go deeper into folklore.

@Pfuzylogic Maybe next week I’ll do his wife, Queen Titania. 🤔

@JoyfulSilence I didn’t know there was a moon with his name.

@Straylight

They named many of the moons of Uranus after characters in Shakespeare's plays.

(They misspelled Umbriel in that graphic above)
