Shadow people lore

It's believed that the shadow people were once human but somehow got trapped in a type of purgatory after passing. They remain tethered to the physical plain through through their deep longing for human connection. They seek out the warmth of passers by and on occasion will become attached to a person's particular heat signature and may follow them for extended periods of time.
