I Am Amazed At the Universe

I watched this fascinating interview with Ed Stone, the now 81 year old chief project scientist for Voyager, about the Voyager 1 and 2 which NASA launched into space way back in 1977. It is described as “the greatest journey of exploration mankind has ever undertaken.” The mission was only supposed to last 4 years, but now 40 years later, the 2 little engines (spacecrafts) that could are still out there traveling to the most distant planets in our solar system, gathering up information and reporting back to earth about what they find. It’s crazy that the technology they use are less advanced and powerful than our smartphones are of today. But what they have allowed us to learn about our solar system, our galaxy, and our universe is nothing short of awe inspiring, remarkable, and spectacular!😍 It also carries with it a “Soundtrack of Earth,” a gold plated record complete with a needle and playing instructions (just in case any other life forms should happen upon it).👽 The records were created by a team led by Astronomer, Carl Sagan, who wanted to document the sights and sounds of Mother Earth, including songs such as Chuck Berry’s, “Johnny Be Goode,” and music by Mozart, greetings in 55 languages, and over 100 encoded photographs of our beautiful planet.💞 It’s a very interesting interview and worth the watch for the intriguing info it has discovered and now offers to us about the different planets and the pictures it has taken of them. Not to mention just to learn more about the phenomenal endeavor that is that of the Voyagers. That picture at the end of the video of this precious place we all call home, taken from 3.7 billion miles away—“a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam”—is very humbling and eye opening, to say the very least.🌎☀✨💫
Here is the video taken from 60 Minutes called “Voyagers”.
