This second full moon is called a blue moon (not because it’s blue, but because it’s the second full moon in the same month) Yahoo+1.

What to Expect Tonight

Rise/Set: Moonrise will be in the evening; it will be high in the sky at night and set before dawn Moongiant.

Sky Features: With the naked eye, you can see major lunar landmarks like Mare Serenitatis, Tycho Crater, and Copernicus Crater. Binoculars reveal more craters and mountains, and a telescope can show Apollo 16 landing sites and highland regions Yahoo.

Zodiac Sign: The Moon is in Scorpio during this period Astro-Seek.com.

Next Full Moon
May 1, 2026 — Peak illumination at 1:23 p.m. ET Yahoo+1.

How was the trip? and what did you like/dislike?

@Kwek00 It was fantastic! It may work out to be the second most exciting trip of my life. The tulips were amazing!. My only complaint was that using a package tour can be very limiting. We spent some time at the Hague, but really only at the Mauritius museum, and there was a cocktail reception before the museum guided tour and then a nearly 2 hour dinner. The food was nothing to rave about and wasted time that we could have used to see the rest of the museum. I also was upset that we did not even see the building where the court meets, or any of the historically important sites.

@samueltyler2 First of all, I'm glad you had fun.

Did you get to Belgium? And where... I saw some of your pictures.

Well, Dutch food, in touristy areas... I personally think it's bad. I think we do it better on our side of the border, however, in touristy areas it can be kinda "meh" too. But I still think we do it better.

Sorry to hear that certain things weren't done. But what I saw from the pictures and the start of your last post, I'm guessing the endresult was good. I'm happy for you there.

@Kwek00 Yes the trip ended in Brussels where spent an extra day. Brugge and Brent were fantastic. An unscheduled stop in Willemstad was a real delight. There was a wedding in the chirch which added to the joy of this 2-3 hour stop.

@samueltyler2 Glad you enjoyed it!

I guess it's "Gent" and not "Brent"?

@Kwek00 sorry, yes, my fingers slipped.

@samueltyler2 No worries... Did you see the altarpiece painting in the cathedral?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Kwek00 of course, i just added to the prior response

@samueltyler2 Oh lol... they probably also told you about the "Neuzekes"-war ... which is a nice story to tell the tourists, but was really a storm in a glass of water :D

The altar piece... IMO, is spectaculairrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
If you are every interested, on this website, you can zoom in on the painting.

You can look for hours for all the little details. Because it's almost picture perfect.

@Kwek00 i spent quit a bit of time looking at the altar. i recently became very interested in the different approaches to the nude figure in art over that ages, particularly the male figure and the societal opinions about the male genitalia.

@samueltyler2 I just love how alive it is... The figures, the way that they are painted, almost feel as if they are going to step out of the frame. Jack Kirby, way before his time :D

@Kwek00 It is amazing how old it is, how bright the colors still are..

@samueltyler2 It's been restored several times... But what they are doing now, is probably the best restauration that has been done.... considering all the new technology.

The parts that you are showing? I'm not sure if those are the originals though... The top pannels from the inside, with the older frames... I think some (or all) are replica's right? Because those are the only pannels that are still in restoration. The outside and the bottom pannels (frames are new too) are already been worked on. But on the inside, the pannel on the bottom outwards left is also a replica. Because that pannel was stolen years ago and even today there is still a lot of mystery surrounding that one. It pops up in the new Belgian news every so many years. There is a form of obsession with people looking for that lost piece.

@Kwek00 i did not hear that story. The cool thing is seeing that they can close the sides and reveal another image.
