I Believe That The Earth May Actually Be Flat

I don't really believe the earth is flat but I had a philosophy professor that was the president of the local flat earthers.
He was one of the most popular professors at the university I went to. When you asked him what proof do you have, he would counter with show me your proof.
He and his wife had a campus radio show and he would talk and she would chant in the background "things like this, things like that, everyone knows the earth is flat". Nights there was a full moon they would go out and howl at it.
The point is and always would be to him is to question everything, nothing is ever happening to you exactly as it was before. That you should disregard everything learned from past experiences and live in the moment, that each situation is unique and deserves your attention.
Was he right? That's how I try to live.

Flat Earth crap is wrong, his philosophy is spot on.
Hmmm...

A flat Earth would defy physics itself...

@Amyrakunejo I think you would have enjoyed the 70s. When he died he left his body to the medical school
Glam Rock, Metal, Orange amps, affordable housing and health care...

Good priorities in my book
I think he's wrong about the flat earth, but right about questioning everything. In order to get through life, you have to accept some givens ... like, if I lift one foot and then the other, and repeat, eventually I'll be standing somewhere else...

But every now and again you should stop and review whether walking has gotten you anywhere.

I believe the earth is round-ish. If forced to produce oroof, I could only offer photos from space and I cannot provide provenance for those.

His flat earth idea is another way to troll the world. Academia allows that. His life philosophy is spot on!
OldHippie · 61-69, M
@Crazywaterspring you got it exactly right. google Leo Ferrarri, University of New Brunswick. He's on there

That’s is such ignorance and nonsense.
College's are still full of oddball professors.

He should avoid physics and stick to philosophy

There's a lot of Aussies that go to Whistler and Banff. That's why you do so well at the Olympics in snowboarding events.
We're part of the Commonwealth, you don't need special papers to come for a visit, but you need at least a month if you want to see the whole country. You can get a train pass that takes you coast to coast.

@OldHippie The train pass sounds like a great way to go, then with that and staying at AirBnb's it'd wouldn't be too expensive. I'd come during summer to avoid the cold... although it would be interesting to see just a day of full-on winter.

@SW-User Its our national railway and the government promotes the hell out of it for tourists. You could probably get a great deal, they may even help with tours or accomodations.
There's always snow in the mountains no matter what time of year in British Columbia, you wouldn't see a storm, but you could see snow.

He is a clear example of the folly.of tenure. He was wasting people's money.
