The earth rotates at 1016 mph.

The earth orbits the sun at 67,000 mph. The solar system orbits the galaxy at 490,000 mph and the galaxy moves through space at roughly 1,300,000 mph….

And yet the cop gave me a ticket for just doing 90?! 🙄

All velocities are relative.

Unless you are going the speed of light. Then every cop would measure the same speed.

@JoyfulSilence Going light speed would suck. I’m already 20 pounds overweight…I wouldn’t want to weight an infinite amount 😂

I think you would only appear to have large mass (intertia) relative to an observer who is traveling near the speed of light relative to you. I think "internally" your mass would be the same. That is, if I were in your ship and shoved you it would be the same as if your ship were "motionless". Although since all velocities are relative the concept of motionless makes no sense in an absolute sense.

I do not know how this works in gravitational fields, though.
