What would happen to faith (particuallly the book of Genesis in the Bible) if we made Alien Contact?

Would contact with Alien lifeforms topple established religion? Would new religions form around the Aliens? Would current religion be able to survive alongside the new discovery?

This is kind of ironic.
The story in Genisis is exceedingly similar to an ancient summerian story of creation. The summerian text mentions the first adam, eden, cain and able , the ark , the flood, Babylon etc.
It aslo mentions gods that come from another planet😏.

So maybe, its already been 'a thing'🤷‍♀️

@OogieBoogie That's interesting, I didn't know that actually, but I believe it. It would not surprise me if before written human history, we were visited.
@ShadowWolf if ya wanna look it up, search Annunaki (they were the aliens.)
And i think its 'the lost books, (or tablets?) of enki.
Been a while since i looked .

But its a fascinating story that tells (in a nutshell), of powerful, technologically advanced beings that come to earth to mine gold , end up bioengineering humans from a bipedal earth species and part of their own DNA to make a work force .
The 'gods' argue amongst themselves , form alliances, sometimes go to war, nearly obliterate all life on the planet with mass weapons of destruction, disease and of course the flood.

Eventually they realise mankind isnt so bad , so they split earth into regions and each take one. ( this stops most of the arguing). And they decide to teach mankind civilised knowledge like agriculture, writting etc.

But its really quite interesting when one looks at varied ancient cultures and how polytheistic religions have similar gods from south america to iceland and to North africa.
And as these beings were supoosed to have lifespans of thousands of years , its not hard to imagine that they would have been seen to be immortal gods.

I dont know why a movie hasnt been made of this ....its a really cool story .

@OogieBoogie I'll take a look, thanks! That is very interesting indeed. Sounds like you could make it into a movie!
