Yes, I'm watching and hope it is successful. I worked in the space industry for a long time, and I am happy to see non-governmental space activities. Things will progress more rapidly outside the government. The downside is that once there is a fatality, and there will be fatalities, I wonder if progress will be thwarted by government regulation.

@exexec thanks for your reasoned response.

@exexec Once they start cutting costs…which everyone tries to do except govt lol

Entwistle · 56-60, M
I'm watching it now just because i am bored.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
I am not watching the Bezos launch. He lost the race. I might watch it later if it crashes and burns.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle And you know this how?

@Entwistle Saying what? That I would watch the crash and burn but not the launch? You aren't very bright are you? Too Funny!!!! Here is a small hint. I don't wish anyone dead or injured. I simply don't care about people trying to go to space for a few minutes. If it crashes it would a news worthy event. Being the second guy to finance is own space flight? meh.

History shows how those with money are happy doing ‘exclusive’ things that look like rich men’s follies.

Balloon flights
Non stop air/boat travel around the world.
Now flight to the edge of space….

The rest of us just roll our collective eyes and wonder how many ordinary peoples lives you could have improved immeasurably by redirecting that outlay to something a little more practical for those with nothing
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 yes your right all for vanity and ego, not so long ago Branson asking for loans, and furlough money for staff
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes I’ve no objection to people spending their wealth on frivolity in life.

Just once in a while it would be nice to hear that maybe some of those who lost their jobs through covid are being re-employed thanks to a billionaire’s endeavour. Kinda thing

Why does it look like a penis?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I remember the Virgin Atlantic billionaire Branson tried to balloon around the world a few years back.

Traditionalists at NASA must be pulling their hair out.

I think it’s terrific! So far removed from the original 7 Mercury/Gemini astronauts. The added plus is to break dependence on the Russians for space travel.
I’m be extra happy if they open the hatch and kick bazos out

A dick in a dick.

Seriously, the feeling that I get from billionaires like Branson and Bezos going to space, while average people are scolded for flying too much and making climate change worse, is contempt, disgust and anger.
