Should Australia be getting nuclear subs from the USA? What does the USA expect in return?

I don't see any legit reason why we need nuclear subs especially new or used Virginia class 're-badged' (like a shonky Geely electric car rebadged as a Volvo).

I expect the USA will engineer in 'backdoors' to all the electronic systems so the US defence dept can constantly monitor 'Australian' nuclear subs and expect our navy to be a defacto part of the US navy for any regional defence requirements.

That is precisely why Canada will not be buying anymore F35s from the US, because Canada already knows that the US can de-rate the power output of those jets remotely, which means the US can control how fast a Canadian-owned F35 will fly... none of which will out-perform an American-owned F35.

That is why Canada is buying the Saab Griffin jet instead of the US-made F35, though Canada already has a handful of F35s now which it mistakenly purchased during the last Canadian federal Administration.

It won't surprise me if PM Mark Carney sold those American jets to any takers, just to get rid of something that Canada should never have purchased in the first place.
