A Few Days Of Life On The Grand Stand at Myrtle Beach
Sometimes things are just so inspiring I want to write about my ‘simple’ experiences.
So I had decided to take a beach trip, to get away for nothing but rest and relaxation, alone for a few days. I have been coming to Myrtle Beach my whole life, but I never have felt the warmth and sincerity of the beach goers before like this trip. If you’ve never been to the beach alone, I highly recommend it. It’s soul soothing and brings clarity like nothing else, at least for me. It’s one of my happy places, and I can be in the midst of a crowded beach, and looking out into the deep blue brings me at oneness with the awesomeness of the ocean. I have been very sick, I mean scary sick, and out of all my nasty surprises left me by Covid, my heart firing all kinds of impulses, going crazy was the most scary of them all. I’ve been very stressed because of all this sickness with its many signs & symptoms that I won’t go into, but didn’t know if I’d wake up many nights when going to sleep. So to say I needed to get away is an understatement.
From the very beginning of getting there after 2&1/2 hour drive, and checking in the motel for a couple of nights, I proceeded to get on the elevator to go to my room on 5th floor. Well in this particular building, you had to use your room key to make the elevator work. I was unaware of that and was stuck. 🥴. A gracious, young Muslim couple helped me by showing me exactly what to do, and assisting me with my luggage, and I thought what a sweet looking family with a couple of children, and extended their kindness to me freely and very loving. I was so thankful, I told this Muslim lady, “the Lord bless you”, as I would anyone that lended a hand. She looked at me and said “okay”. Lol true story. 😍
Ok ..so I get to my room and unpack for my stay and get appropriately dressed for dinner, and then go stroll along the beach, seeing whatever there was to see. I noticed how nice and friendly everyone I came in contact with was. I mean everywhere I turned, I saw men and women spending quality time with their children. I was so touched by the things I saw. Anybody remember what Myrtle Beach strip looked like when all the stores on the strip was blaring vulgar music and seemingly everyone inside the stores covered in tattoos?! 😳 Gone were the days when the Pavilion was rocking and everyone just hung out and strolled the strip happily. But Myrtle Beach trips have been better, much better through the years…
So back to the present, …everywhere I looked, I saw loving families…Everyone friendly and greeting me as I made my way around observing and doing my thing.
Same thing the next few days. I was encamped by people from all over the country, and yes I know they come cause I use to love going around looking at all the license plate tags…and have even seen cars there from California before. It’s fair to say I saw people represented there from all corners of the earth. (And no I’m not a flat earther). 😉
I didn’t see the things I usually see. If I saw anyone drinking booze, it was at the tikki bar at the pool. . Oh I’m sure there were some people drinking on the beach but it wasn’t out in the open.
It was a very wholesome thing, with the exception of having to see some women’s butts due to their throng bathing suits. And there was no shortage of tattoos either but, the interesting thing is so many women had tattoos, much more so than the men. Yeah
So as I was strolling the shore on my last day there, and I saw two children playing together and for some reason, it tugged at my heart and I was moved to take a pic of them. I asked them if I could , and they even posed and smiled for me.
I had wanted to get a pic of a sunrise or a sunset but clouds covered early am and same at sunset. So these are the only pics I’ll share. Lol
As I laid in my bed my last night there thinking of how lovely this trip was and how peaceful it was. I thought, “well done Horry County”. 👏 I honestly thought it’s time for people to pull their children close and hold them tight. Make precious memories with them, cause they won’t stay little forever.
Love your family and friends… do it while there’s time. We are not promised tomorrow. ❤
I no sooner had thought that when the news showed that a dog had been killed by an alligator at a private home there at the beach. Just a few feet from the door to the home… And I thought so sad…
And then they told of a man being attacked by an alligator back some time in the same area. Yikes 😳
Australia doesn’t have anything on Myrtle Beach, they have their own gators. 😛 just sayin
