Had my opinion changed

I used to love the sea, both being on it and being in it. However, about 10 years ago, I stayed in a small fishing village on the north east coast of England. This night, I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd go out for a walk. It was summer and the sea had been calm during the day. However, the tide was in as I was walking around and I could hear it slamming against the harbour wall. As it was the middle of the night, there were no other sounds to distract me from this noise and I found the sound and power of the sea quite intimidating.
I'd rather not be on the water now and prefer to remain a land lubber

I live in the middle of the Europe, therefore far away from any sea. I can't explain why but being near sea could both make me very happy or very depressed. And it hits suddenly. Especially depression, it's a weird feeling of having a hollow chest. Usually the first day of being near the sea. My mother told me that she experiences it too.
