...some people have never seen the ocean!

I've moved close to 30 times in my 36 years, and I've always been able to see the ocean from where I lived.

I live on an island (the most populated island in the US). I can't see the ocean from my house, but I can drive to it in a few minutes.

I've only seen it twice and it took until I was 27. (Well, regularly during two weeks.) I've seen the sea many times before though.

Yeah, as a lifelong Oregonian, I don't think I can imagine never having seen it. Everybody owes it to themselves to take a look at least once in their lifetimes. Not on your phone screen. Not on your TV. It's too damn big to fit.
