I think we just need to allow them to secede, I might have to move tho 😕

@zerofuks2give I say we give it a year after secession for everybody to move to the country where they want to spend the rest of their lives, then shut that damn border up tight.

@zerofuks2give There are definitely upsides to doing that, but I have to say, I'd be a bit anxious about having a gigantic fascist state right on my border for the rest of time.

@BlueVeins Well, see, then, we could declare war on them.
@zerofuks2give I'm willing to make exceptions depending on who's on the other side of that border.

@LordShadowfire Sure, if we wanna get glassed.

@Elessar I'm so confused. Whether or not the republican states are allowed to secede impacts whether or not we're going to see that outcome. A country with roughly the normal mix (40% libs, 40% conservatives, & 20% socialists*) has a reasonable chance of turning out fine. A country with a more skewed mix (maybe 50% conservatives, 40% liberals, 10% socialists) like Texas is probably gonna turn into a fascist hell within a couple decades, especially given the conservatives' long-standing institutional advantages.

@Elessar Oh, they could do all kinds of crazy shit, moving polling places around like pieces on a chess board, legalized brownshirt gangs hovering around key locations. Even a poll tax isn't out of the question, I mean the attorney general there said he wants to start enforcing sodomy laws again for christ's sake
