Initiation
Another topic for discussion. There is an opinion that in recent times, interest in various types of initiations among young people has been growing. In particular, interest in public exposure within rather closed groups. For example, a student group, work colleagues, and other groups where certain interest‑based subgroups have formed. In my experience, there was only one such case. And even then, it was bordering on moral violence. But that’s not what we’re talking about now. We’re talking about a completely voluntary initiation. As an example, I can cite such a rather old and forgotten custom among our people, practiced in certain groups of society. More often in relatively conservative agricultural communities. The so-called screenings. This is when the bride's parents or relatives had to present the dowry for the future wife and herself before the wedding. So that the relatives of the future husband can make sure that choosing a groom is not a shot into the sky. I've heard that in quite remote settlements, this custom is still being practiced. However, access to such initiations is, of course, a taboo subject. And it concerns only the family. But, as they say, there’s no smoke without fire. And there is even a mechanism for such a ritual. The future bride must run down the hill. So that the relatives can assess the physical condition of the girl’s body. Do you have any thoughts or opinions on this? Both regarding the modern trend and the ancient rituals? Well, here’s a small visual example.
