It has changed definitions in many ways over the years.
My sister-in-law was a naturalist in the 70s and she refused to even put on a bikini. Not just because she was modest either and she was extremely modest.
Her definition was what is considered today: a "holistic" lifestyle.
So you are going to find many ways to define the terms: naturism, naturalist, naturalistic, naturalism and even nudist and hedonist.
Think swingers on the last and there are different versions on that as well. Not all hedonist have sex or are nudists.
I find it ironic that many want to fix the definitions. It's mostly to control others behavior. Control the definitions, you control the behaviors.
Examples;
Why doesn't the word "Love" have nine different definitions, like in Greek? 🤷🏻♂
It makes sense to have at least those nine, if not more.
Oh right! You can't associate "Phila" as a mental disorder then. Forbid that you "love" your friends differently, than you love your children: "Storge".

Phila in Greek (Φίλα) means "loving" or "kindly," and it is derived from the Ancient Greek word φίλος (philos), which means "dear" or "beloved."
It is often associated with affection and friendship.
