According to the Independent, senior figures in Rishi Sunak’s government are reportedly planning to move Britain into a Swiss-style relationship with the European Union.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt signalled last week that Mr Sunak’s administration intends to break ranks with Boris Johnson’s approach by removing the majority of trade barriers with the bloc.

What do my British friends think: is that a step forward in the right direction? Or is it the end of Britishness as we know it? Looking forward to your votes. 🌷

Not much chance the EU would accept that type of deal with the UK. Even if it did, the UK Government wouldn't accept the conditions Switzerland has such as joining the Schengen zone. Even if the EU were to accept the UK rejoining, which is unlikely, the UK would never get the type of advantageous deal it had before.

@Sharon Yes that's certainly true, as a member the UK would be a country just like any other.
