There were a couple Medics at the MEPS station. Twice. I'm not sure if it was the same couple people both times so maybe four or maybe just two. it was about 39 years ago. And many moons I'm sure. Pun intended LOL. Oh I almost forgot my doctor also saw me in that position about 15 years ago and I fired him afterwards and picked a new doctor LOL seriously

Why did you fire him?

@Jayciedubb I wonder how many people know what the MEPS station is. Having enlisted twice, I am one that does.

@SW-User as i recall, there were 2 physicals. One when you enlist and the other when you ship off to basic training and at that particular station, they inspected for flat feet and whatever they were looking for at the back door. There was a hawkeyed doctor and a witness checking. The rumor was that they were checking to see that it had only ever flowed in the outwardly direction. (Before 'don't ask, don't tell' era). They were probably checking for hemorrhoids at least. But I don't really know. I've never had a physical as complete , before or since.
When you enlisted the second time, i assume your first contract had completely expired? Or did you switch branches?

@Jayciedubb I only had the MEPS physicals. And there was nearly a two year gap in service. So yes enlisted, got out, enlisted again, reenlisted several times until I had 20 years active. Retired USAF.

@SW-User cool. My dad was in the USAF. I enlisted in the US ARMY a few months out of high school out of complete aimless boredom. I had/have a high (high for Army, probably average for USAF) GT score so I was eligible for a 2 year enlistment which flew by so i reupped for 3 more. ETSed as a buck sergeant (E5) enrolled in college just as first gulf war was ramping up and i was plucked out of college days before finals and promoted to staff sergeant (E6) so they could stick me in a sergeant first class (E7) slot that they desperately needed filled. Now 33 years later and I'm still trying to come down from that thrill ride. ...truth be told, i had less than a year time in grade as an E5 before i ETSed

@Snuffy1957 it's still a little bit painful to talk about but the gist is that after the appointment, he never called , he never wrote, no card, no flowers , no nothing. And then when I had my next appointment with him he acted like it never happened. I was crushed. So I had to let him go.💔😷🤭😉
Okay, seriously. I guess you could say it was his bedside manner. I strongly felt that had he the foresight to remove his class ring from his finger before insertion, his class ring wouldn't have had to be removed from my rectum.
... rectum indeed.
😁🤣😂
Okay, okay, okay, okay... okay I don't know how much of the real story to tell. It was based on anesthesia and lots of painkillers from a knee surgery that I'd had a week prior and unbeknownst to me all those drugs were going to stop me up back there. I almost went out like Elvis but I turned to my doctor for Urgent Care instead, and he let me down from every angle and I felt humiliated, violated and still having to pass the Rock of Gibraltar on my own many uncomfortable hours later. On the day of my wedding anniversary. One of his suggestions was to have my wife remove it for me. He said that's what wives are for. Not mine I told him. We don't have that kind of relationship. This is what I have health care for. Before going at it with his rather large finger, he tried to pawn me off on the GI department. And I can hear them over the phone telling him, no no no DO NOT send him over here. DO NOT!
The trick ended up being to add a tablespoon of mineral oil to my diet every day for the next couple weeks after.

@Snuffy1957 i appreciate the sentiment, however, i feel the personal anecdote isnt worthy of any sorrow. To the contrary. It was loaded with life experiences and lessons, to the point that i embrace the experience. Of the 23 we've had so far, it's the wedding anniversary that shines the brightest. I believe it was our 7th
