This morning I went to church, the church of Saint Theresa, in central Zurich, a four and half kilometres taxi ride, wearing only a lilac mini dress, and flat heeled shoes. I carried only my handbag with my Missal, phone and wallet.
The cab driver was friendly, I think either Turkish Kurd, or from that area. He seemed to appreciate how I look and when we arrived at the church early he gave me a hastily drawn map to help me walk back to my hotel. He also opened the door for me!
It was a warm welcome from members gathering and I went into the church collecting a parish letter and a song book on the way. I say towards the back of the Church synthetic end of a pre where there were already several older couples seated. In front of me there was a young family, parents and two preteens.
The pews continued to begin filling, not completely full, which might have reflected both parish numbers and Covid arrangements. The services begsn, songs, greetings, prayers and scriptures. I enjoyed the whole thing too! The priest seemed a very interesting man.
After Mass I decided to walk back to my hotel and I looked at the map my cab driver had sketched, and saw a little of the city I had rushed through earlier. My dress hem was high enough that I was as thoughtful of the fact as much as I could be!
