I Am Still Spanked
I don't understand parents who still spank their adult (or eve teenage) children.
Sure, I was spanked, and quite often, as a kid. But my Mom stopped when I was 11 or 12. Very few us weren't. When does spanking stop and turn into beating? Kids are more social than adults are. You may administer the spanking/beating where the "reason" strikes you. But YOU don't have to answer for the taunting received from friends, or explain why you can't sit comfortably in school or in church, or have the other kids ask to "see what you got.
This is bad enough as a kid. But these adults now? 33...45...50...
Let's us a little common sense and restraint, shall we? Once a person is old enough to reach the "age of reason" (whenever that is)it makes more sense to TALK to him or her and put that paddle away.
Don't think I never saw teens or adult spankings. The alcoholic who lived next door took his belt to his kids more often than necessary. I went to high school with a girl who had a murderous bruise on her knee from her father's belt (we were both 17).I had friends who were bitter about still being spanked - at their age.
And for those of you who think me wrong - save your electricity. My Mom knew what she was doing when she put the paddle away for good. She never had to answer the door from the police bringing us home, or get us out of jail...
And she raised four of us.
