I Was Spanked As A Child With A Hair Brush

Mom's hairbrush always had this special significance for me. Even when I saw her use it for brushing her hair, that made me think of its other use on my poor bottom. I haven't heard of any dads using a hairbrush for spanking their children. It's a typical motherly device.

The hairbrush was not the first "weapon of choice" when she had to spank one of us that was a spatula. But she use that brush enough that it is significant for me to.
But the spatula was our "Popoklopfer"

@Meli4win In my experience (directly or vicariously) spatulas and wooden spoons are both better suited to spanking another much more sensitive region. Butt the hairbrush is one of the classic punishment devices - bath-brushes can be good spanking tools also.
