A sensual spanking is usually during sex or a form of foreplay to arouse your partner so they want to have sex. Consists of love taps maybe some harder ones with no intent to hurt.
Punishment spankings are pretty self explainable. They are the ones you received as a child when you misbehaved usually with the intent to prove a point or chastise bad behavior. Usually much harder than a sensual one and can include implements but doesn’t have to.
Therapy is a spanking you ask for to relieve stress it is usually is like a punishment but slower and you go at the pace of the person being spanked so basically it’s over when they are crying and let out the pent up stress and emotion.
Role play is a form of foreplay it usually involves sex of some kind afterwards and can be a Miriam of ways. For example teacher student

@AshleighLynnCole Very interesting! Thank You for taking the time to explain all that. Hmmm, I can actually understand that in a new light now. The therapy spanking is particularly what makes me realize that it isn't all about inflicting torturous pain on a person. As a child, my parents' spankings lasted for hours.... when one got tired, the other took over... and it was about inflicting the most pain possible for as long as possible... so that's the picture that was in my head when spanking was mentioned.
