I Spank My Children

When I was growing up we weren't spanked that often and it was just my sister and me. My husband and I have a daughter, no sons. That's why I'm interested in what others think.

But if you did have one of each, do you think you'd treat them both the same that way?

On the one hand, I would. On the other hand, every child is different, so the spanking would depend on the child -- but not because of the child's gender.

@Annie1899: I would agree generally yes, it has to be based on the individual. In my experience boys often were punished more and harder due to their tendency to be more aggressive and the idea they were tougher physically.

@lynnsw68: I don't think I'd want to make that generalization -- but yes, I know that was the general view.

@Annie1899: Politics has changed but the fact remains that boys and girls are different and always will be.

@lynnsw68: Yes it was not PC when me and you you were at school, we saw a few boys canings didn't we?

@JanDaw69: We certainly did Jan, I used to get butterflies in assembly when that was going to happen.

@lynnsw68: Do you look back and think it was better that way?

Well it meant anyone who behaved wrongly was made an example of in front of everyone! It made me feel I was glad it wasn't me up there bending over.

@JanDaw69: Did you feel superior? Or just relieved? lol Were you a good girl, or did you just get away with things you shouldn't have?

@lynnsw68: They may be different but it's not relevant in respect ofbeing punished for misbehaving.
