I Was Spanked With A Wooden Spoon

Bare bottom but it was a wooden spatula. That hurt worse. I remember mom rummaging around in the drawer telling us it was time for the stick. Then yanked down our pants, over the knee and spanked a good 5-10 minute. The burn after was horrible.

5-10 minutes is a long time.

At what age did your mom spank you?
Enise · 46-50, F
@MartinII yes it was very long. I don't remember my first spanking sometime before 3. My last was at 12.

@Enise Thanks. 3 is very young too, I think, for a proper spanking. On the other hand, I think spankings in teenage years are perfectly appropriate - if deserved, of course.

I'm not sure I agree. I spank my 3yo. It's a great time to start teaching them to submit to a spanking. I also agree with spanking teens.

@Enise I have always thought that spanking was appropriate for children who understood, or ought to have understood, what they had done wrong and what the consequences would be. But I suppose it's also a way of teaching a young child what is wrong, and what the consequences of doing something wrong will be.

My kids understand by three. They use sentences, potty, can follow commands so it seems appropriate. That said I wouldn't spank for something they did not know. Like coloring on the wall. If I never told them not to at 3 they don't understand. But if I told them not to and to help me clean it and they said no then I would spank.

@Enise Yes, I understand. My attitude is coloured by my upbringing. I was never spanked at home. When I was first spanked at school, aged 9, it seemed like a major, and grown-up, event.

@MartinII understandable. I was never spanked by non family so that would cross a line for me. Different experiences.
