Are you supposed to do anything to 'prepare' for sexual encounters?

Do they happen at random for you or are you planning them meticulously in advance?

How do you 'prepare' for sex/intimacy if at all?

I've never considered this and being a guy the whole 'preparation' and 'pre-planning' thing related to sex doesn't make any sense or seem legit. But I accept that to some people they might put lots of effort into preparing/planning/scheduling sex and sex related things.
