A thought just occurred to me...

That in holding on to the memories of a mistake I made 18 years ago, I have, in effect, been punishing myself without realizing it.

I think there’s a small prayer that asks for the Lord’s help to understand thing that can’t be changed.
And BTW, you’re by no means, alone. Many of us feel as you do.
