A thought just occurred to me...

That in holding on to the memories of a mistake I made 18 years ago, I have, in effect, been punishing myself without realizing it.

I do the exact same thing!

It's really hard to let go of things you cannot change. "Don't be so hard on yourself" is something I have to remind myself to do daily.
