Neither -- we're just more honest about reality. BUT perhaps we are also more open to variety because the amount of information available makes us realize what we thought the things that made us alone in the world are actually things shared in by millions of others?
I think they’re both changed. The accessibility of porn increases the consumption of porn regularly normalizing what we see every day. So we want something a little different. Eventually, there are infinite fetishes and genres. We have changed as we become bored with every day porn, and the porn industry reacts to producing different content.
I was involved in gay group sex/orgies, fueled by drugs and alcohol, dating back to a time when either gay sex or drug use could have resulted in several years in prison in Missouri ( where I was living at the time). The perversions have been around for a long time...but perhaps they are becoming more mainstream in recent years (as I'm a lot older now, I'm not involved in that as much as I was in the 1970s and 1980s). Every time period seems to have its popular perversions, though, and it seems to go through phases of what's popular.
It's really a sad state of affair as the porn industry is thriving more by catering to the oldies who pay and have no means to achieve them in real life, while the young ones are getting disillusioned, which would affect their prime age. Just like how movies spoilt the love and romance, and made real love take a beating.
