I think this isn't always the case, I personally don't give it that much importance, edging for a long time with someone is much more fun and keeps the fun going for longer :D I'm glad my partner now feels the same so we can just spend all day teasing each other and there's no need for anyone to reach orgasm. Of course sometimes it happens anyway 😁
