many times when i was growing up in the 50's dad told us to reach over the table and he would whack a cane or strap across our little bare bottoms...it use t sting for ages.

@Sharon as a deputy in a large private all boys prep school i had to administer all cp. tHE FIRST TIME BOYS GOT it in a school year it was trousers down, over the chair where i would lift up the shoirt and were slippered or caned across their pants. If they came back a second time in that school year not only did they have to take their trousers down but pants as well, then it was over the chair and the shirt raised so the cane or slipper went on the bare bottom. They said the cane hurt a bit more bare than on pants but the slipper almost doubled in sting on the bare bottom. Many have told me, both the slipper and cane hurt more on their bare bottom than on pants but the big thing was it was much more scary when you had t take your pants off and bend over knowing it was going on your bare bottom

@Sharon three of my four sons went to the school where i was deputy and along with many others said the keather soled slipper use to sting on pants but not nearly as much as when it was on the bare bottom. May be, and am no expert on girls knickers, may be they are thinner and do not protect the bottom as much as boys pants so the differance is not so great when they hav to come off and have it bare.

@chikki I don't think there was much difference in thickness between school knickers and boys' underpants. There are several factors affecting how much a slippering stung. As the gym mistress was the only teacher to slipper us both through knickers and bare, that's the only valid comparison I can make. She slippered harder than any other teacher, which could also be a factor. It stung so much through knickers that it couldn't really sting much more without.
On a related matter, in sixth I found trousers didn't make any difference to the sting of the cane. All through school we had to lift our skirts for the cane but in sixth form we were allowed to wear trousers. I thought they'd offer a bit more protection from the cane or slipper but I soon found they didn't.

@Sharon one of the reasons when i was at school, and again when deputy, that boys had to take their trousers down was the material was very thick, a tweed. THESE were not the thin type boys wear today and would have greatly reduced the sting felt by the boy. Also, in the 50's not all boys wore pants so when trouser5s or shorts had to be lowered so the bottom could be caned it was often already bare....to be fair this resulted in any boys wearing pants having to pull them down and present a baee bottom to be whacked
