Primary school memories

I was in our local primary school until the age of 7 (when I got sent away to boarding school). I remember wearing school uniforms passed down by my sisters which were too big for me. Playing hopscotch at break. Waiting outside the school kitchen to ask what was for dinner. Having to do PE in my knickers and vest because I was too slow changing.

@BridgeOvertroubledWaters Too small and timid. I had to do dramatic stuff like fall in a puddle for anyone to take notice.

@SunshineGirl The primary girls at our school used to do PE in their dark blue knickers all the time.!

Ah yes, school days in the Sixties! I can remember wearing a cap with a badge on it in the 'Juniors', size 6 and 7/8ths...
We called the schools 'Infants' (from 5 to 7), then 'Junior' (7 to 11) and then 'Senior' (11 to 15/16, depending on when you left)
At some stage when I was still very young, 'Juniors' changed to 'middle' and added an extra year, so people only went to the 'seniors' when they were 12. Prior to this there was another important change which affected my cohort: if you were born in or after September 1957 you couldn't leave at fifteen any more.

In Grade 1 and 2 we were still wearing grey flannel trousers, blue blazers with a white shirt and school tie, the girls wore blue tunics with matching "bloomers" and white blouses. Then the Board of Education decided it was no longer necessary to wear such "uniforms" and by Grades 7 & 8 the girls were wearing some pretty short shorts and miniskirts in spring and we'd get flashed every once in a while! 😊

Yes at that age in primary,I'd play kiss chase (and give in easily and get caught) .
And in the school library there was a book about the A-Z of sex..

@HotPizza71 So did I. You were lucky having that book, at my school there was no such thing as sex. If there had been a book at that age I'd have turned to W for willy!
