Why does the president use an autopen instead of authentically signing things?
Seems disrespectful to the process imho.

The practice has been used by presidents from both parties for decades, and this includes Obama, Trump and Biden.
It's done for efficiency's sake, and due to the increasing number of documents needing Presidential signature. The alternative is waiting forever to get a slot on the President's calendar. Or, in the case of Trump, when the President does nothing but play with a sharpie.
