Is delusion a mental illness?

When Biden did poorly in the first debate, most Democrats admitted it. This time Trump did poorly (even by FOX NEWS) and his base along with Trump himself, refuse to face it or blame everyone else. Do we really want a totally delusional person with his finger on the button regardless of his policies?

No guarantees? But what if your Psychiatrist declared you mentally ill and was about to ship you off to a mental institution?

Would you just take his word that you are mentally ill because you have delusional thoughts about something which in his opinion, confirms his assessment of you?

Did you not believe that Santa Clause was real for a while, until you decided that he wasn't real at all? Were you delusional before or after that decision was made about Santa's reality?

Trump believes that he won the debate with Kamala, but only recently has he been admitting that he actually lost the 2020 Presidential election to Joe Biden.

Did Trump win in 2020 or did he lose? Your answer will depend on what you want to believe is real, no different than Trump wanting to believe that he won the debate with Kamala Harris. Are you delusional or is Trump?
