Where does Trump get his support?

Good analysis:
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/02/trump-republican-primary/677550/

Bottom LIne:
Trump’s path to the nomination is clear.

This outcome wasn’t inevitable; Trump was beatable. His opponents had real opportunities to cleave off his support, but they squandered them.

The reason is simple: Republican elites don’t understand their voters. They spent eight years making excuses for Trump and supporting him at every turn, sending the clear signal that this is his party. They spent nearly a decade saying that he was a persecuted martyr—and the greatest president in history. It’s frightening, but not surprising, that their voters think he’s the only man for the job.

What's even more interesting is how this is a repeat of 2016. People like you live in a bubble and listen to the same ol' left wing periodicals with their ridiculous notions of Republican malfeasance getting us to this point.

The RINO's of the world were absolutely ready to move on from Trump, in fact they have moved on...the voters are not.

You subscribe to a lefty periodical that has gotten EVERYTHING about Trump wrong either purposefully or otherwise.

They will lie to you and lie to you and lie to you.

I can assure The Atlantic does not have any sort of realistic notion of Trump and the movement to elect him as President.

They are catering to YOU and hoping you don't cancel your subscription.

@SumKindaMunster Hmmm: Left wing propaganda from the BBC, CBC, DW ? I guess all newspapers except the ones who are pro-Trump are 'left wing'? Right - You are right.... all newspapers except the ones who are pro-Trump must be leftist and therefore 'fake-news'!!

@JollyRoger Not what I said, but I understand the desperate need to dismiss me.
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster I do want to understand you. What do you see in Donald Trump (the person) that is good? What did you see in Donald Ttump the past President that made America stronger? What did Donald Trump do in his past Presidency that made Americans proud of him that he was their leader?
@SumKindaMunster 🤔 it's almost like he didn't watch any of the video he marked as best comment

@stound meaning? What did I miss? I heard the rant about Hillary... I understand that lack of change created a want for change... but now? What will Trump give you? Lay out his election platform for me and tell me what Americans will gain from him being the same President as he was before.
@JollyRoger a sorta summary gister from the video: throwing your hands up, getting offended and throwing a label or insult isn't working, won't work, can't work. You have to actually engage with people who oppose your view and at least try to see where they come from and why. Bonus points if you can reach some sort of middle ground.

@JollyRoger No, I'm not going to do it that way. I'm going to do it the correct way which is explain to you why voting for Joe Biden is unacceptable.

Joe Biden is clearly afflicted with moderate to severe dementia. He is being protected and coddled. I don't believe he is running the country, rather his wife and Barack Obama seem to be the main drivers of current American policy. Anybody who has cared for an elderly relative knows exactly what is going on with Joe Biden. You wouldn't let this guy make his own dinner unsupervised but he is running the country?

Joe Biden doesn't care that the Southern Border is being overrun by illegal immigrants. He is fighting to allow more! He is fine with letting MILLIONS of undocumented people enter our country and do whatever they want.
Joe Biden wants to continue the war machine. He wants to provoke Russia and hope they don't start a nuclear war. He wants to dump hundreds of millions of dollars into Ukraine for weapons and infrastructure. Meanwhile he doesn't care about American infrastructure.
Joe Biden is fine with isolating America to allow Israel to destroy Gaza. With the possible exception of the UK, Israel, and the US EVERY SINGLE CIVILIZED COUNTRY WANTS A CEASE FIRE IN GAZA! Joe Biden doesn't care though, he believes Israel is doing the right thing.

So, will Trump fix all this? I don't know. I feel confident the border would be closed. That's a start. So why vote for him?

Easy - this is a much power as we have. It's clear, very clear that the Federal government does not care about Americans. They won't address the southern border even though a plurality of Americans have demanded it for years. They don't give a shit about Americans and based on their priorities they care more about Ukranians and Israeli's. It's a middle finger to shitbirds like Bernie Sanders, or Leslie Graham. It sends the message that yeah, Trump is a mess, but ya know what? He pisses you off, and he clearly disrupts YOUR agenda so why not vote for him?

I'd be thrilled, THRILLED to vote for someone better.

And lemme just tell ya...it ain't Nikki Haley.

@JollyRoger You said: "What did Donald Trump do in his past Presidency that made Americans proud of him that he was their leader?"

Two things come to mind, as far as I am concerned:

1. Calling NATO out not paying their dues for defense as agreed. I don't think he cared about their contributions to keep NATO alive because this organization should have been disbanded back when the Cold War ended with Reagan and Gorbachev. Trump is an anti-war president.

2. Stepping into North Korea. Trump's ability to win over America's sworn enemies is astounding. It's clear to foreign leaders, that don't share America's political system, that Trump is clear-minded, independent, and capable of resolving international conflicts. Above all, they saw him as the only American leader who can be trusted.

@SumKindaMunster Thank you! That's the clearest statement of sentiment that I've seen on this site. I don't agree with it, but then, I'm not American and I'm not invested in America except as a member of a trading partner country who has watched Trump varicate on deals and cause our country political strife despite him having had advice to avoid that. So, I can't trust him. I know you folks are in a tough place with candidates (so are we) but unless someone can put a leash on that man, he's an embarrassment. He's as much a narcissist as is Putin.... and that's spitting out a mouthful of shit right there. .
So, if/when Trump is in his next term, how will the world react? Sure he can highlight the problems that exist in America, but are his solutions viable? Are they equitable? Do they reflect what today's world expects of a superpower country? The last time many countries were shaking their heads.
I too wish you had other candidates on both sides of your system. But it seems you can't get them to stand up. You are living in a 'house divided against itself'. Please be careful of your choices.

@JollyRoger You said: "Please be careful of your choices."

What choices? People don't have choices. I know you believe that we people in the west have choices and folks in China or Russia don't. We just live with the belief that we don't have good candidates who can deliver us from evil. So, we cast our votes dutifully repeatedly and wait for the Messiah.
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@sree251 Well.... you wait for the Messiah.... I'm just warning that Hell on Earth is in the policies that aren't even put to paper yet.
