Never mind that, it arguably brought the entire WORLD together.

@wildland The world stood still.
wildland · M
@WhataHotBodyCanDo Something better was possible... America was becoming isolationist, but then things started coming together until the 2008 financial crisis, whereupon things snapped back harder than ever. And its essentially been downhill since.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@wildland how on earth, did we veer so far from that in 24 years???
wildland · M
@samueltyler2 One word: Trump.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@wildland i really dislike the man, but he is a symbol of the problem, not the root cause.
wildland · M
@samueltyler2 Maybe, but he is the one who actively encouraged people to pander to their basest, most vile characteristics. How else did he convince the racists in the Bible Belt to vote for him?
WhataHotBodyCanDo · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 And what/whom would you reckon is the root cause?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@WhataHotBodyCanDo it is not one person, it is a problem if loss of empathy, loss of feeling a part of society. I am not smart enough to explain it, but if you look at the radicalization of society over the past 60 plus years, you will see a gradual change from the "Great Society" and it's attempt to provide a safe and comfortable society for all to a two tiered society divided into the super rich and all others. There have been moments during that time when you could be optimistic, and others in which anger and hatred from feeling forgotten or being displaced has lead to pessimism. I don't condone his murder, but looking at his words, he fed into the feelings of those who felt forgotten, so although I never want to blame the victim, he certainly did little to help calm society.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@kodiac really, in what way?
kodiac · 22-25, M
@samueltyler2 Too mant to list ,if i had a son he would have been just like trayvon. Obama started the whole white is bad rethoric.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@kodiac there was never such rhetoric, except maybe made up in your mind! There was and still is data to show the dangers of being a black man i. Society, particularly suburban society. He did voice the sentiment that if he had a son, his son could become an innocent victim,bad was Trayvon. He was staring a feeling based on data. It was people like Mitch McConnell who swore to never allow President Obama to succeed that handicapped his efforts at doing more good.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@samueltyler2 Tryvon wasn't an innocent victim. Where is the data showing the dangers of being a white woman on a subway train ,the only white person in the car? The data showing the calls for whites to be killed al all costs?
