Maui fires, arson?

It's highly likely that the Maui fires were started by arsonists. The landscape and the weather was perfect for such an incident. Remember, we are in a global war and, like the Canadian and Greek fires, the Maui fire would show that no area is exempt from such an attack. The beauty of it is that such attacks can be staged to appear perfectly natural in origin and therefore brings no retribution from the attacked victims. Such attacks are far cheaper than brute military force. In all probability we can expect an increase in such incidents.

Some Maui residents say they have been looted and robbed at gunpoint while catastrophic wildfires rage on the island — leaving them begging for a greater response from authorities as thieves make off with vital supplies.

As rescue crews work to deliver necessities such as water, food, and first aid to those in need, locals say some residents have grown so desperate waiting for help that they’ve resorted to stealing.

West Maui residents blame the robberies in Lahaina on the fact that they feel abandoned without supplies or answers.

Kami Irwin, a Maui resident helping to coordinate relief efforts, told Insider that locals began neighborhood patrols and distributing supplies when they realized they were only seeing volunteers — not government officials — coordinating aid efforts.

“We literally have no idea because we are not hearing answers from anybody,” Irwin told Insider. “We are still left without knowing what to do.”

So, the greedy lawyers are ushing the claim that the power company is responsible, although no cause has been determined. What about the land owners who didn't keep their land cleared of grass along the power lines?

should the power company have cut off all power to the entire island, thereby placing the whole infrastructure inoperable, including all hospitals, the airport, the fire and police systems useless, and depriving sick people of the power needed to run their machines to keep them alive?n Can you imagine the whining that would have happened if the power company had shut-down all eletrical power on the island? There would have been riots all over the place and some people could have died without the power. Of course some died anyway.

@Diotrephes Because there's a big plan behind them. Where I am, major facilities, like hospitals, are required to have generators that will maintain power for three days. There's a warning in advance that it may happen and a whole lot of stuff is already in place to help those who HAVE to use power. And it's not like there's a light switch that turns off power to everyone. It focuses on the areas that are potentially impacted by wildfires.

@Diotrephes It's a good question. Hawaiian Electric said they didn't have a formal shut off plan. Said they could have turned off the power but they weren't sure what would happen if they did. It's more than just turning off the lights.
They're under a lot of scrutiny. Rightfully so.
Where I am the State tells the utilities where and when to cut power. We're given enough warning. I appreciate it. I think most who are under threat do. People will take a relatively short inconvenience over the alternative.

@Ynotisay Such situations don't have many good solutions. Some people will suffer, maybe even die, whatever action is taken. And, in this instance, even when people urged their loved ones to run, some didn't and got roasted.

Butnow that everything has been destroyed, will the dead ever get their estates properly settled? Survivors are giving DNA samples but suppose the dead have no blood relatives? They will remain unknown. And, can you imagine filing a life insurance claim when you have no records to support your link to the dead person? You might even have a hard time remembering the person's birthdate, let alone the person's Social Security number, insurance company, insurance policy number, bank accounts, investment accounts, etc. It is a total mess.
