Kaʻu arson investigation initiated by Hawaiʻi Island police"KAU, Hawaii (KHON2) — Hawaiʻi Island Police Department has announced that they have opened an investigation into the fire that was fought by Hawaiʻi Fire Department on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Hawaiʻi Island fire reported that their firefighters responded to a 911 call that came in around 1:17 p.m. The call took fire personnel to several brush fires on Mill Camp Road in Pāhala.

These brush fires have been identified to have started under suspicious circumstances.
Hawaiʻi fire said that upon their arrival, although it appeared to be a single fire, firefighters discovered that there were two separate fires burning, one on either side of Mill Camp Road."

Surveillance video shows arson couple suspected in series of boat fires on Oahu"HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - New surveillance videos show a pair of alleged arsonists hand-in-hand, minutes before a crime that caused half a million dollars in damage.
The videos, from businesses in Iwilei, show the pair on April 1.
They walked to a storage lot on Dillingham Boulevard where a boat was set on fire.
Another vessel docked at the Ala Wai harbor was also torched just days later.
Both boats are owned by a local electrician who turned the videos over to police.
There’s also footage of the car that picked the pair up after the fires."

Sources say it happened on the set of Disney’s live-action remake of “Lilo and Stitch.” Monday was supposed to be the first day of filming.
According to the Honolulu Fire Department, crews received a call just before 11 p.m. Sunday for the trailer fire at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Cane Haul Road in Haleiwa.
HFD said upon arrival, brush was burning beneath one of the trailers."

On the afternoon of Aug. 9, the Hawaii Fire Department received a report of several brushfires on Mill Camp Road in Pahala. They found two separate fires upon arrival, one on either side of Mill Camp Road. They were burning in the same area, but how the fires started appeared to be different, according to a news release.
Detectives determined that an unattended cooking fire started one of the fires.
The second fire may have been intentionally set as investigators found an incendiary device on the roadway where they believe the fire started."
