Today is the 18 memorial [I Remember 911]

Sitting here with tears in my eyes remembering those of my friends lost and/or deeply affected. It is 19 years now, I will never forget that day. Isn't it ironic, 19 years ago the nation, and thenwotkd, came together in mourning in solidarity, everyone had compassion and empathy. Nineteen years later and covid19, we are totally torn apart, unsympathetic and even amoral! So sad!

9/11 is singed into my memory. I traveled through the WTC often on business, taking the PATH train from Newark. I've eaten in Windows on the World Restaurant at the top of the North Tower (106th and 107th floors) quite a few times. I remember looking down from the large windows and seeing a small plane flying below. Little did I know at the time. One of my best friends that I worked with passed by the elevators that were affected in the first bombing in 1993. I thought he had been injured when I couldn't reach him, but it turned out that he was on the train under the Hudson River having just left a couple minutes before the bomb detonated. He had gone to school with the pilot of American Airlines 11 that crashed into the North Tower on 9/11. It was a surreal day, and I was heartened when the whole country came together afterword. Sadly, it didn't last. Today is a good day for reflection.
