I Still Remember September 11

[big][c=#7700B2]Never Forget 09/11/2001[/c][/big]

Today I am reflecting on 9/11 and what that meant to our country, and to our friends around the world as well. We will never forget that date and the loss of lives caused by those bent on our destruction.

But I am also very proud of our military, and our Special Operations Forces, including the Navy Seals that took out the mastermind behind that horrible day. These lyrics were written by SSgt. Barry Sadler of the Army Green Berets, but I post them here to honor all our Special Operations Forces.

[c=#7700B2]"Fighting soldiers from the sky,
Fearless men who jump and die,
Men who mean just what they say,
The brave men of the Green Berets.
Silver wings upon their chest,
These are men America's best,
One hundred men will test today,
But only three win the Green Beret."[/c]

I have a very close friend whose entire life was devastated on that day. He was a NYPD police officer and lost many of his closest friends that day. My prayers go out to all those that made it out alive that day. To all the ones who are hiding out today and can't even bear the thought of turning on the television because they are still dealing with the nightmares. Whatever you think happened that day is irrelevant to those people. They were there and it happened to them. And my prayers go out to them.
I think it was very cool of Horace to try to preserve the integrity of this post. It's about respect. And the people who lived and died deserve that.

Thank you for your comments, Jenn. I didn't lose anyone that day, but know people who did. But what your NYPD friend experienced is hard to comprehend. Thanks on behalf of all for your thoughts and prayers today.
