I Still Remember September 11

[big][c=#7700B2]Never Forget 09/11/2001[/c][/big]

Today I am reflecting on 9/11 and what that meant to our country, and to our friends around the world as well. We will never forget that date and the loss of lives caused by those bent on our destruction.

But I am also very proud of our military, and our Special Operations Forces, including the Navy Seals that took out the mastermind behind that horrible day. These lyrics were written by SSgt. Barry Sadler of the Army Green Berets, but I post them here to honor all our Special Operations Forces.

[c=#7700B2]"Fighting soldiers from the sky,
Fearless men who jump and die,
Men who mean just what they say,
The brave men of the Green Berets.
Silver wings upon their chest,
These are men America's best,
One hundred men will test today,
But only three win the Green Beret."[/c]

I have a very close friend whose entire life was devastated on that day. He was a NYPD police officer and lost many of his closest friends that day. My prayers go out to all those that made it out alive that day. To all the ones who are hiding out today and can't even bear the thought of turning on the television because they are still dealing with the nightmares. Whatever you think happened that day is irrelevant to those people. They were there and it happened to them. And my prayers go out to them.
I think it was very cool of Horace to try to preserve the integrity of this post. It's about respect. And the people who lived and died deserve that.

Thank you for your comments, Jenn. I didn't lose anyone that day, but know people who did. But what your NYPD friend experienced is hard to comprehend. Thanks on behalf of all for your thoughts and prayers today.

Folks, this is neither the time nor the place for commentary political or otherwise.

Brownie, I've given you the rope and you've demonstrated your character. anyone reading this thread and our exchange can make up their own minds.

I've had enough of your banal comments.

@HoraceGreenley: I will dumb it down for you. Stop being a holier than thou asshole.
@Angelita: [c=#BF0080]I agree.. no matter how you think about it.. which I happen to know the government was NOT involved.. so many people lost their lives that day. 😔[/c]

Mustang, for me it is still very painful. I've been watching some of the memorials today, but it is still too difficult to focus on them for very long.
RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
Thank you, HoraceGreenley, for remembering and for watching the memorials today. I hope you didn't suffer any direct personal losses that day.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@RealMustangGuy: Thankfully I did not. I do know a couple of people that worked in the Towers, who were lucky enough not to have reached the building before the planes hit.

I do know a couple of people that suffered personal losses. How about you.
RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
@HoraceGreenley: No personal losses for me either, but know several people who did lose immediate family members and friends.

Great post! Though we weren't personally affected by the 9/11 tragedy directly I have made sure my son knows about 9/11. So many kids who were born after this tragedy have no idea what it was even about. So many life's lost that day. #Neverforget
RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
Thank you hami1091, and good that you educate your children. The only way to keep the memory going is do just what you've done. So thank you for that as well.

I saw the event as soon as it was televised
and I felt the terror
here the other side of the world

FeastingWithPanthers, thank you for that. We found that we had wonderful friends all around the world sharing our pain that day.

And now the government uses this tragedy as a excuse to spy on the American Citizens.

I have a friend from NY that worked at a hospital close by. He took photos from the roof top and gave me one. I also have a newspaper article from that day. 😭
