I Still Remember September 11

I live in New York, but I don't live in the city. I can still remember that day very well. It was scary.
I live near Canada and right on the boarder. Where I live there is a shipping channel that cargo ships pass through from here into Canada. Shortly after September 11th a list of possible terrorist sites were listed for possible attacks in the US. We were #9 on the list of the top 10 most likely places to be attacked by terrorists.

A great fear from terrorism rose greatly in this country after September 11, 2001.

I remember exactly what I was doing that day. I was a stay-at-home-mom back then, my children were young when it happened. They don't really remember much of it, but they have heard many stories and studied about it also in high school. It's being taught in schools now as part of American History.

I think many Americans remember exactly what they were doing that day. I know I do. I was bringing my 2 oldest to school that day. My oldest was starting kindergarten and my youngest had his first day at Head Start, he was 4 at the time. I remember flipping through the channels to find a cartoon for my youngest child (she was 2 at the time)
As I began flipping through the channels I saw the world trade center up in smoke. I had no idea what happened until I saw the news of it on a different channel. At first I didint pay too much attention to it, because they weren't giving any details in the report on the news.
I proceeded to take my boys to school and when I got to the school that was all anyone was talking about. That's when they said it was a terrorist attack. They said that 2 planes had been highjacked and the other plane was unknown. That was the one that crashed in the field.
As the events unfolded that day it was on every single channel on television. By the time my husband got home from work that night the towers were gone!

Our country came together that day and mourned for all the lives that were lost that day. We honored the heros and all the volunteers that came to help that day. The clean up from that horrific day went on for months. Donations poured in from all countries around the world. This day will always be remembered.

I have seen a lot of documentaries about 9/11 and have read the many different stories that people share about it.

I have had the pleasure of going to the memorial site where the towers once stood. I saw it before the Freedom Tower was built. While it was still under construction. It was 2009 when I went to NYC and saw this site. It had walls of memories for all those who parishes that day.

I think everyone has their own story of what they were doing that day. Would you care to share yours?

I have noticed here in SW many folks are sharing their own, I thought I would share mine.

Thanks for reading and sharing.
