Why are Trans people able to buy guns?

Rhode Island ice rink shooting suspect's gender identity was source of past family conflict: docs
Robert ( Roberta ) Dorgan is accused of opening fire during youth hockey game in what police called a 'family dispute'

Gender Dysphoria is a mental problem. I thought those with mental problems could not buy guns.

2 weeks ago in Canada another Trans person killed 9 people. It seems that .1% of people are committing
50% of mass shootings.

Why isn't anyone talking about this phenomenon?

Wow! Did you major in statistics? Those two events are cherry picked out of how many mass shootings in just the last few months?

Dorgan clearly had mental issues around his gender identity, not being able to settle on one, exhibiting and expressing flashes of anger and threats of action. That does not extrapolate into labeling ALL trans-gender people. Most are quietly trying to sort out their gender identity ambiguity and transitioning, if that is their decision.

@dancingtongue Who is labeling ALL trans people?

@DogMan Your original statement went from talking about a shooter with Gender Dysphoria to the prior Canadian shooter, asking why no one is talking about the connection between Trans people and mass shootings. Sounds like extrapolating a couple of people with established mental health problems to ALL trans people to me.

And followed up in a response to another post:

This is part of the problem. Anyone that does not accept and celebrate the trans lifestyle
is labeled a bigot.

You don't have to accept and celebrate the trans lifestyle. But you shouldn't blanketly assume that a couple of individuals with acknowledged mental issues, apparently at least partially tied to gender identification issues but both considered primarily domestic violence issues against their parents, are representative of all trans people.
