Bessent changes rules on Welfare

Immigrant welfare recipients will no longer be able to wire welfare money to their
countries of origin.

This seems like a no brainer, but I'm sure the lefties will say it's A-OK. Why you ask?

Because it is the opposite of what Trump thinks, and Democrats are required by DNC law
to object to everything Trump is in favor of.

Why stop them being able to wire money to whoever they want? It's their money.

@G7J2O you're misding the point of the post...
First...if they are on welfare, (assuming they are legal, which I doubt), they somehow qualified for it....meaning, no or low income or physically unable to work, buy food, pay bills and survive. If they are sending money back to other countries, then they lied on their application for the needed money...our taxpayer money....they obviously really don't need it.
Second..the money is for food and needed assistance and NOT to do whatever they want with it.
Third...they are most likely illegal and living in a sanctuary state which is giving out money to illegals.....simply just WRONG...
Aren't you concerned about where your taxpayer money goes ???
G7J2O · M
@Midlifemale No. Once people are given handouts for whatever reason, it's up to them to use it as they see fit. Why should we tell people what to do with their money?

And yeah, most likely illegal. That's BS. Illegals are not entitled to welfare, and they do not receive it despite what Breitbart say.

@Midlifemale they are not illegal. Stop believing right wing lies.

@G7J2O somewhere in the language debating the welfare laws, I am sure there was discussion about it aiding the communities where the recipients lived. We are a capitalist country - most appropriation bills have an undercurrent of “what’s our return on investment” rather than “how do we help the people”.

@G7J2O Why would they need tax payer funded welfare if they were sending money home?

If they can afford to send money home, why do they need welfare?

Do you want your welfare dollars to go to everyone now?

Are you saying there are no illegals receiving welfare?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@DogMan I can’t say zero, but they are not legally allowed welfare, and no state (even the “sanctuary cities”) can legally give welfare money to people without legal status to receive it.

And yes, there is fraud, as there is with everything, but that is a separate issue that this decision does nothing to address.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@trollslayer I just read that they found over 500 people in Minnesota still receiving welfare
10 years or more since they died.

I think there is a major system malfunction.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@DogMan i agree the system has big problems and needs to be modernized. But in thee case of those 500 - are they still actually getting the money? Who is cashing the checks? Similar revelations with welfare or social security found that no money was being sent - just data entry errors in the database.
G7J2O · M
@trollslayer Also, @DogMan where exactly did you read this?
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@G7J2O in the case of social security, the issue was that no date of death had been entered because the person died before the database was created. Going back and manually entering legacy data is tedious and expensive.
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
@G7J2O I just resesrched how long it takes to become legal....wow !
Basically..years to a decade with many circumstances and their situation.
