Gas Prices finally falling - other costs to follow

Gas prices fall below $3 nationwide, lowest since 2021, GasBuddy finds
The good news for Americans driving during the holiday season comes as more states' averages are expected to dip below $3 at the pump. The U.S. average of $2.99 is the lowest since May 2021.

As we know, energy and shipping is a major expense. As prices fall, we should also see grocery prices and other staples
fall in price.

how often do we see dramatic drops in the price of anything? i do hope we see such a drop, right now, here in NJ, the price is very variable, it can vary by as much as 10% almost daily., up and down.

@samueltyler2 I was in Las Vegas, and there were many stations at 2.99 per gallon for 87 Octane.

No top tier. Murphy's express, Sam's club, Costco, were below 3 bucks.

Nevada in usually one of the higher gas price states.

@DogMan I just got gas at $262.99 at a no-name station here in NJ. The gas tax starting in January is going up, so the limited less expensive gas is about to zoom up again. When we first moved to NJ, it had the lowest gas tax in the country, now among the highest. The car is a loaner while my EV is in for repair. I was charged $1000 to register my EV for 3 years to make up for the savings on gas tax.

@samueltyler2 1,000.00 for 3 years isn't too bad. It's actually good if it is brand new.

262.99 cents a gallon seems excessive. 😉

@DogMan when one considers i drive less than 10k miles a year, an average car gets about 35 mpg, that represents about 29 gallons at $333, about $.015 per gallon. the current list tax is $0.45 per gallon, so yes it is a savings.
