Why are Republicans targeting Epic City Texas?

Seems like a nice master planned city. 🤔

Dearborn, Michigan, has become the model city for America’s double standard: a place where the mayor and police chief, both drawn from a radical-aligned Islamic community, wield power not to protect free speech, but to punish dissent.

In November 2021, Abdullah Hammoud made history as the first Arab-American and Muslim elected as mayor of Dearborn. Just a year later, in 2022, he elevated Issa Shahin to become the city’s first Muslim police chief. Shahin is the 47-year-old son of an Egyptian father and Albanian mother, married to a Jordanian-American woman. He now controls Dearborn’s law enforcement arm.

Together, Hammoud and Shahin represent a historic shift: both of Dearborn’s most powerful offices, political and police, are held by Muslim men deeply tied to a very controversial Islamic community. And that fact matters, because under their leadership, a troubling pattern has emerged. Non-Muslims are punished for reckless words, while Muslims are shielded when they chant open incitement.

Why Was the DOJ Investigating?
The federal probe was prompted by Senator John Cornyn and others who raised concerns that EPIC City might unlawfully limit housing access to Muslim residents or impose religious law over civil authority.

After reviewing internal documents and assurances from the developers, the DOJ determined that no religious discrimination was present, and that the development would remain open to all buyers, regardless of faith. The probe was closed with no charges filed and no violations cited (KERA).

Is Sharia Law a Concern?
One of the persistent public fears surrounding the project has been whether Sharia law would be practiced or enforced in EPIC City.

@DogMan Sharia Law is not governed by our elected officials .. it has no place here.

If coming here to live, expect to follow our laws. Otherwise, the person(s) should instead immigrate to a country where Sharia Law is in place and accepted. Period.

@BrandNewMan I agree! I have read that places like Dearborn Michigan have their own Sharia court system.

It does not supersede the U.S. courts, but it IS used for Muslim issues. A Muslim can seek help from outside, but they
will be ex-communicado, to use a John Wick saying.
